Everybody is talking about Jamie Oliver these days… Closing lots of his restaurants, financial problems, etc… Each article that I read about him connects the situation to his sudden growth and him being only just a chef or an excited investor/entrepreneur, but it’s not limited to this.
Firstly he’s not just a chef or a boss. From my point of view as a content professional, he’s a game-changer and pioneer. I know that there were and still are lots of video contents about food but “food” never succeed to have the “real” leading role before him…
At the end of 90s, he started his content creation process and never stepped back. With him, “kitchen” and “food” themes became more popular, and he created new content concepts unceasingly. Same theme different concepts and formats.
He is the real innovator and revolutionary, much more successful than most of the creative producers
About his kitchen… His style, his receipts, and his way of cooking are all great but not so interesting for the visitors of his restaurants. Let me explain what I am trying to say; I remember watching one of his shows, there were two girls who couldn’t describe onion because they always ate it as onion rings. Of course, Jamie Oliver’s kitchen is so amazing for those girls but not for me, not for societies who can cook or whose parents cooked at home. In other words, watching all these cooking contents as real experiences are great, but tasting is not that exciting because it’s a not new discovery. I couldn’t find the answer why should I visit Jamie Oliver’s restaurant because I was not sure about his promises about taste. Best Italian? The Healthiest menu? Perfect steak cooked in the forest? For finding the reason, I visited ones but still, I didn’t get the answer…
So “Food Revolution” is a good idea to watch cause its target is people who don’t know or care about what they eat and need to know what is the real meaning of food but not a good idea for being a philosophy of a restaurant…
His revolutionary spirit is so inspirational, and he’s the one and the only guy in the world who can continue inspiring people for 20 years. So I hope that he keeps sharing his enthusiasm with all of us and owns just one restaurant. A restaurant where he cooks, makes us believe he’s real and feel his enthusiasm. His excitement and passion can change thousands of people’s lives.
